Rebar Locate At The National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) – Golden, Colorado

Ground Penetrating Radar Systems, Inc. of Denver, CO was contacted by Haselden Construction of Centennial Colorado to locate tendons and rebar in overhead beams in parking structure. Haselden Construction needed GPRS to scan a beam in the parking garage to drill holes to install a new sign. GPRS went out to scan and locate tendons in a safe and accurate manner.

GPRS used a GSSI 1600 MHz Antenna to locate the tendons and rebar. All findings were marked with construction crayon directly on the beam at the customer’s request for easy interpretation and washable markings. Ground penetrating radar was needed for this job to keep the customer from drilling into or through the post-tension cable or rebar. GPR allowed for accurate and easy placing of the anchors to hang the Enter/Exit sign on the beam without damaging the structure of the parking garage.
