GPR Used To Locate Post Tension Cables, Rebar And Other Anomalies - Westminster, Colorado

Ground Penetrating Radar Systems, Inc. of Denver, CO was contacted by Park Range Construction of Englewood Colorado to locate post-tension cables, rebar and column lines in slab on grade concrete. Park Range Construction needed GPRS to scan and locate reinforcement and slab depth to core drill 5” holes in the slab. The cores were needed to fill voids underneath the concrete slab with grout to strengthen the structures integrity. The void under the concrete slab was weakening the buildings foundation causing the building to shift. GPRS went out to scan and locate post-tension cables, rebar and concrete slab depth in a safe and accurate manner.

GPRS used a GSSI 1600 MHz Antenna and a live current locator to locate the post-tension cables, rebar, live power conduit and slab depth. All findings were marked with permanent marker directly on the surface at the customer’s request for easy interpretation. GPR was needed for this job to keep the customer from core drilling into or through the post-tension cable, rebar and column lines. Ground Penetrating Radar was successful for an accurate and safe placing of the 5” cores without hitting post tension tendons or drilling through the thick part of slab.

Ground Penetrating Radar Systems use safe and cost effective methods to conduct GPR investigations. Ground Penetrating Radar is safe to be around while concrete imaging is taking place, emitting no radiation. GPRS can perform surveys on big or small areas to locate post-tension cables, rebar, underground storage tanks, plumbing or electrical conduits.
