GPR Locates Post Tension Cables in Denver Colorado
Ground Penetrating Radar Systems, Inc. of Denver Colorado was recently contracted by American Anchor to assist in the location of post tension cables prior to installing Fall Protection Anchors. The crew installing the stanchions received plans that stated the presence of PT-Cables. The anchor bolts needed to be imbedded 5” into the slab, which caused the possibility of the bolts striking a cable while drilling into the concrete.
The Park Tower Condo Building is an inhabited building to the use of traditional concrete x-ray in Denver was not an option. The roof needed to be cut away and replaced in the same day which increased the need for using concrete imaging in Denver on this project. GPR is a very quick process which gives real time data and emits to radiation like a typical x-ray would.
The technician on site was able to lay out the rebar and post tensioning in 14 different locations so that the drilling process was kept safe. Data was marked clearly on the surface of the concrete to aide in the placement of the fall protection stanchions.
