GPRS Locates Post Tension
Cables Before Remodel - Denver, Colorado

Ground Penetrating Radar Systems was recently contacted by I-Kota of Denver Colorado to locate post tension cables and utilities in a concrete slab. The customer had been awarded a job with Denver Housing Authority. DHA is remodeling all of their current residents housing units and this includes new heating and air conditioning units. This requires running new electrical and condensate lines to the units. Before core drilling the concrete the customer needed to scan the concrete to be assured they were not going to strike any post tension cables or electrical conduits. Ground Penetrating Radar Systems was able to quickly mobilize and assist in this project.

The units that the contractor was remodeling were still occupied above and below where the work was being performed; GPR was ideal for this project because ground penetrating radar is not harmful and does not emit any harmful radiation as with traditional x-ray. It would have been unrealistic to have tenants a safe distance from the hazards associated with traditional methods. The technician on site was quickly able to locate any utilities in the slab. GPRS is the new way to x-ray.
