Ground Penetrating Radar Systems of Denver CO was contacted by Intermountain Electric to locate conduit in pan decking. Intermountain Electric needed GPRS to scan several spots on concrete slab for any conduit or reinforcement in the slab before core drilling. GPRS arrived at the job site to locate any conduit or reinforcement in the slab in a quick and accurate manner.
GPRS used GSSI 1600 MHz antenna and radar detection for picking up live power in the slab. All findings were marked directly with permanent marker on the surface for easy interpretation. GPR does not require extra time to develop films as with traditional x-ray and all findings are marked in real time. Ground penetrating radar was needed for this job to keep the customer from drilling or cutting conduit or reinforcement and to easily continue with installing anything needed through slab without damaging the structural integrity of the building and damaging conduit. GPR emits no radiation so it is safe to use in an occupied office building.
