GPRS Mountain Region services the Denver, Kansas City, Omaha, Salt Lake and Albuquerque areas. The services we provide include locating Post Tension Cables within concrete. The process is non-destructive in nature and does not emit any radiation. When the owner of the St. Regis Hotel in Aspen, Colorado wanted to renovate the bathrooms within the hotel, it was necessary to locate post tension cables prior to construction. The existing penetrations through the floor would need to be changed to accommodate the new locations of toilets, showers and sinks. Before the construction was approved a preliminary scan was completed to determine if the pt cable layout would allow for the concrete cores called for in the design.
The technician on site was able to obtain data from several sample rooms and the location of the cables was sent in to the owner in a written report. The hotel was an active business that had to maintain operations so the GPR survey was used to remove the chance of harmful radiation. Because the results of a concrete image scan in Aspen are real time, the data was placed on the surface of the concrete with tape. The tape was used in order to not damage the rooms that were scanned. The survey was completed with no damage or markings done in the room.
