GPRS Locates Reinforcement In CMU Wall of Eisenhower Tunnel

Ground Penetrating Radar Systems was recently contacted by US Engineering of Loveland Colorado to locate reinforcement at the Eisenhower Tunnel in Colorado. The customer was installing new boilers and needed to verify the location of rebar in a CMU wall before proceeding with installation. They needed to be assured that while cutting holes that they were not going to strike any reinforcement. They chose to use GRPS to accomplish this task.
The walls at the Eisenhower Tunnel were CMU, then an air void, then a brick veneer. GPR was ideal for this project because ground penetrating radar only needs access to one side of the surface being scanned. All readings can be done from one side, and marked on surface without having to have access to both sides of concrete. GPRS is the new way to x-ray.

The customer was installing new plumbing fixtures and needed to verify the location of rebar before proceeding with installation. They needed to be assured that while drilling holes that they were not going to strike any reinforcement. They chose to use GRPS to accomplish this task.
GRPS has no limitations to the size of area that can be imaged, and also has instant results so the findings can be marked directly on the surface in real time with no waiting for films to be developed as with traditional x-ray. GPRS was able to scan multiple areas quickly and efficiently. This was ideal for the customer as they were on a tight timeline and did not need any further delays in their schedule.
